KINGS OF WESTEROS DURING AEGON'S CONQUEST

Aegon's Conquest, also called the Conquest, was the campaign in which Aegon I Targaryen conquered most of Westeros. Aegon subdued six of the Seven Kingdoms, successfully resisted only by Dorne.

The thing that drives me crazy about people's opinion of Visenya in-universe is that they generalise her as "the stern one" or the "evil sister". Visenya may have been aloof but she loved with every bone of her body. She won the Vale banking on a mother's love for her son. She kept her word to a small boy despite a tense situation and grieved his death years later. She went to extreme lengths to form the Kingsguard to protect Aegon. She risked her own life to torch Dorne after it claimed Rhaenys. She counselled Aenys wisely throughout his reign. She counselled Maegor despite how close he came to bringing down House Targaryen, the legacy her bother and sister helped her build and left her with. Visenya helped build House Targaryen into what it was, not out of fire and blood but out of love.

In her youth Queen Sharra had been lauded as “the Flower of the Mountain,” the fairest maid in all the Seven Kingdoms. Perhaps hoping to sway Aegon with her beauty, she sent him a portrait of herself and offered herself to him in marriage, provided he named her son Ronnel as his heir. Though the portrait did finally reach him, it is not known whether Aegon Targaryen ever replied to her proposal; he had two queens already, and Sharra Arryn was by then a faded flower, ten years his elder.

Ladies of House Arryn:

Sharra*, the Flower of the Mountain

*Sharra is regent of the Vale in the name of her son Ronnel so we know that his claim doesn’t come through her but rather through her deceased spouse. However, we’re never told that Sharra belonged to a house other than the Arryns and there is a later precedent for the Arryns marrying their cousins; Jon Arryn, for example, married his cousin Rowena Arryn. Therefore, I’m choosing to interpret Sharra as an Arryn by birth and by marriage.
